Why I Started Before The Slab
Carpenter
For years, I worked as a carpenter and project manager, building homes across Australia with care and passion. But one issue came up time and time again—clients struggled to truly visualise their future spaces from flat 2D plans, even with a few static renders. To be honest, so did I.
The result? Costly mid-build changes, design misunderstandings, and unnecessary stress for everyone involved.
After a serious knee and shoulder injury forced me to step away from the tools, I knew I wanted to stay in the industry I loved—just in a different way. That’s when I founded Before The Slab.
Together with an incredible team of designers, architects, programmers, and the help of cutting-edge AI, we now turn floor plans into immersive, true-to-scale 3D virtual walkthroughs. These walkthroughs let homeowners, builders, and designers experience a space before construction begins, helping everyone make confident decisions early.
This isn’t just about beautiful visuals—it’s about building smarter. It’s about improving communication, reducing variations and rework, and giving clients peace of mind.
